Last updated: 20 August 2026
Who is responsible for your information?
Mrs Katie Yeadon / Katie Yeadon Private Practice is the data controller for personal information processed in connection with Katie's private clinical practice and this website.
If you have a question about privacy or the way your information is handled, please contact Katie's private secretary:
Information we may collect
We may collect personal information when you contact the practice by telephone or email, arrange a consultation, receive private care, deal with payment or insurance matters, or otherwise communicate with Katie or her secretarial team.
This may include your name, contact details, date of birth, appointment information, correspondence, billing or insurance information, referral information and other details needed to respond to your enquiry or provide care.
Where relevant, the practice may also process information about your health, symptoms, diagnosis, investigations, treatment and medical history. Health information is classed as special category personal data and is handled with additional care.
Why we use your information
Personal information may be used to:
- respond to enquiries and arrange private consultations;
- assess, provide and coordinate medical care;
- communicate with you, your GP, other healthcare professionals or hospitals involved in your care;
- manage fees, invoices, insurance authorisation and practice administration;
- maintain appropriate clinical and business records;
- meet professional, regulatory, safeguarding, legal and insurance obligations; and
- establish, exercise or defend legal claims where necessary.
Our lawful basis for processing
Depending on the circumstances, personal information may be processed because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, to perform a contract for private medical services, to comply with a legal obligation, or because there is a legitimate interest in operating and administering the practice safely and effectively.
Where health information is processed, the relevant UK data protection conditions may include processing necessary for the provision or management of health or social care by a healthcare professional subject to duties of confidentiality, and processing necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
Expert witness and medico-legal information
Katie also undertakes expert witness work. In medico-legal matters, personal information may be supplied by solicitors, insurers, courts, agencies, healthcare providers or other instructing parties. This can include medical records and other sensitive information relevant to the instruction.
Such information is used only as reasonably necessary to consider or fulfil the instruction, prepare an independent opinion or report, communicate with the instructing party, attend conferences or court where required, and meet associated professional and legal obligations.
Administrative enquiries about expert witness work are handled separately by Jackie Woodward, Katie's expert witness secretary.
Who we may share information with
Where appropriate and lawful, information may be shared with people or organisations involved in your care or in administering the practice. These may include:
- Katie's secretarial and administrative support;
- hospitals, clinics, laboratories and other healthcare providers involved in your care;
- your GP or other clinicians, where appropriate;
- private medical insurers where you have authorised or requested this;
- professional advisers, indemnity organisations, regulators or legal representatives where required; and
- solicitors, courts, insurers and other relevant parties in connection with expert witness instructions.
Information is not sold to third parties for marketing purposes.
How long we keep information
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet applicable clinical, professional, regulatory, insurance, tax and legal requirements.
Clinical and medico-legal records may need to be retained for significant periods. This means that a request to delete information cannot always be accepted where the practice has a professional or legal reason to retain it.
Website information, hosting and cookies
This website is hosted using Netlify. Like most web hosting services, the hosting infrastructure may process basic technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as IP address, browser information, requested pages, timestamps and security logs.
The website does not currently contain an online enquiry form and does not currently use advertising or marketing cookies. It also does not currently use third-party website analytics. If analytics, non-essential cookies or additional online services are introduced in future, this notice and any cookie information will be updated as appropriate.
The website search runs within your browser using the site's own search files and is not intended to send your search terms to Katie's private practice.
Email and telephone enquiries
Please remember that ordinary email is not always a secure way to send sensitive medical information. Do not send urgent medical information through email. If you require urgent medical help, please use the appropriate NHS urgent or emergency service.
Your data protection rights
Under UK data protection law, depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to request access to your personal information, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, request restriction of processing, object to certain processing, request deletion where applicable, and ask for information to be transferred in certain circumstances.
These rights are not absolute. In particular, clinical, medico-legal and other records may need to be retained where there are overriding legal, professional or regulatory requirements.
To exercise a data protection right or ask a privacy question, contact Kelly-Jane Adams using the details above.
Complaints
If you have concerns about how your personal information has been handled, please contact the practice first so that the matter can be considered. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

This privacy notice may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the practice, the website, applicable law or the way personal information is processed. The latest version will be published on this page.
